Retail Motor Industry

Automotive Skills is the Sector Skills Council for the retail motor industry. As part of the UK wide Skills for Business network, Automotive Skills bring employers together to address the skills and workforce development challenges affecting this vital sector of the UK economy. Automotive Skills recognises the need to help the industry to look ahead long term, to think of the skills implications and to put into practice programmes and procedures that will address the skills gaps that exist within the sector.

Automotive Skills works in collaboration with trade associations, employers and other organisations to help increase the number of people being trained in the retail motor industry and to expand the number of employers investing in training programmes. It is employer led and has received the full backing of major employers across the retail motor industry from motor manufacturers and their dealers, to the repair and aftermarket sectors.

Automotive Skills is working closely with learndirect to offer learndirect's wide range of courses to businesses and individuals working within the sector.
