Staff training for Barclays University
Barclays University (bu) wanted to make learning an integral part of its employees' lives, and knew it would need to be accessible, convenient, flexible and enjoyable.
They could partly do this using their own resources, but believed that learndirect centres would bring learning, which aligned with bu's values, to its managers and employees in local offices.
Now, more than 100 of our centres include a dedicated bu facility. The bank's staff can use these facilities to access the e-learning they need, including courses on:
- regulatory topics, such as identifying money laundering
- key business processes
- personal development and management skills.
We provide experienced staff at each centre to support learners and a dedicated telephone to contact a bank helpline.
Since January 2004, over 30,000 Barclay's employees have visited a centre, registering for over 52,000 courses. The latest feedback showed that 100% of Barclays learners said the service had met their expectations, and 88% would recommend the service to a colleague.

Bespoke learning for the RAC
learndirect Business helps the RAC Group meet its compliance training needs by providing bespoke and off-the-peg courses for employees. Our service also includes hosting training materials and collecting data on tests built into the learning programmes.
We've maintained this service for the past three years. It's seen over 16,000 registrations and provided management information on a regular basis.

University-industry collaboration
Our Learning through Work scheme offers a range of work-based university qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and has been developed by learndirect in conjunction with a number of UK higher education institutions, including the University of Derby.
We worked with the University of Derby to put together an innovative Learning through Work programme for the international engineering firm, Alstom Power. These courses were flexible and future-proof, designed to empower employees and improve their skills.
